“BUSRAPIDO” – Lazio, Italy

Busrapido is the first booking website in Italy where you can rent buses with driver. The service allows people to book private buses online conveniently, showing the best deals for their group trips.
People can rent buses for a few days or just for few hours in Lazio, an Italian region. The goal of this platform online is to find the best buses company for each consumers’ need.

Clients can rent buses with driver of all sizes:
·         minivans and minibuses (9 seats, 12 seats, 15 seats, 20 seats)
·         mini coaches and minibuses (20 seats, 25 seats, 30 seats)
·         large coaches (35 seats, 40, seats, 50 seats, 60 seats)
·         double deckers (70 seats, 80 seats)


For each type of bus you can choose the on-board services you like, such as television or air conditioning.

ANALYSIS OF THE INNOVATION

Dimension of intensity
In my opinion, this type of innovation is a revolutionary sub-sector innovation, including both conservative and disrupted aspects. For a start, it’s conservative because today people can travel by buses and buy tickets for wherever they want by booking through private agencies or on the web site of the buses company. However, this idea is disrupting because is founded on another concept. Consumers can directly rent not only a seat, but the whole bus. They can decide for how many times or days to have a bus without any agency’s intermediation and any obligation concerning for example an organized trip. Moreover, they can compare a lot of prices and choose the best option for their needs.

Subjective dimension
The innovation is new in market. The target is consumers that want to travel independently, by choosing from their selves the kind of the trip.

Dimension of the content
“Busrapido” is a process innovation because there is an innovation in the bus service process.



Busrapido is a new Italian startup that won a contest promoted by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage. The program was to provide funding for small companies and startup with the aim of increasing the quality of the offer and making Italy more competitive on international markets.
In fact, the winning companies have received 10 000 Euros to use to develop the business idea.

In a contemporary society in which people don’t want standard packages and simple experiences anymore, this idea allows them to customize the trips. Furthermore, clients can have a direct contact with the company, so that means more guarantees.
The idea also answers to sustainability because the buses are eco-friendly vehicles. So I think this aspect may be one more reason to choose to make a trip with “Busrapido”.
Finally, this project should extend to other Italian regions with the intent to create new collaborations and to make more original the service.
