BOOKINGBILITY

Bookingbility is a platform that allows you to search and book in real time rooms and accommodation suitable for disabled people that need special options. Unlike the most famous online agencies, Bookingbility only accepts facilities that are really accessible and that reflect the guidelines of the portal, in order to ensure customers to travel safe. Accommodations may register in the platform free, but only after a verification of the accessibility requirements. Travellers with special needs, however, can easily find suitable accommodation, check the availability of the room in real time and book without additional costs and any intermediary.

Among the goals of this innovation there are:
- Simplify the search for accessible accommodation facilities.
- Improving the quality of accessible tourist services.
- Promoting accessibility of barrier-free facilities.
- Promoting personal autonomy and integration of disabled people.
- Break down physical and psychological barriers.

ANALYSIS OF THE INNOVATION
In my opinion this kind of innovation is incremental, because it's improving a booking service related to accessible tourism.
It's new for the customers who have special needs, but also for the accommodations that can register in this platform and to be selected by clients.
Finally, it's a process innovation, because it's a new service process.

BACKGROUND OF THE INNOVATION
The company was founded in Palermo in 2015 by Giuseppe Sciascia (33) and Aurelio Bugnino (37). After one year of activity Bookingbility has already won several awards. The first was at the Weekend Tourism Edition in 2016.
These are the words of one of the founders: "The idea from which Bookingbility was born while I was booking an accommodation on Internet. I looked at the filters that can be applied to refine the research and I realized that there was nothing that made reference to people with disabilities. From there I began to look for platforms that took into account this type of needs: there was nothing. And so, what had been an intuition became an obsession."

I think this innovation starts from a real need to meet the necessities of people who have different capacities. It's also sad that until 2015 in Italy there wasn't any platform intended to solve this problem. Accessible tourism should be promoted as best as possible. It is a growing market with an enormous potential.
