The First Mars-Inspired Village on Earth Will Open in the Not-So-Distant Future
The first Mars Inspired Village on Earth will open in the not so distant future
The story:
The self-sustaining network of biomes by Interstellar Lab will be called EBIOS, short for Experimental Bio-regenerative Station. The terrestrial village will consist of a network of self-sustaining biomes designed to produce and recycle water, food, and energy for 100 people within the “closed loop environment.” Interstellar Lab has worked closely with NASA to create EBIOS, which when finished will include a number of space-settlement technologies to research how future generations could inhabit Mars, including plant growth systems, 3-D printing technologies, and tools for analyzing human behavior in a closed environment. The futuristic facility will be open for half of each year to anyone who wants to take part in experiencing what future settlement on other planets might look like. Each space-influenced station will feature a science center for astronaut training, research, and agriculture; an art and music center; and a hospitality center (or accommodation). What’s more: The network of self-sustaining structures will be built to ensure a carbon-neutral footprint.
Dimensions of Innovation:
For whom is it new? How new is it?
It is new for the market and also new for the company, as the project of inhabiting the mars has not been around for too long. While some companies focus on launching travelers into outer space, others are dedicated to bringing cosmic environments to our Earth. Still, Interstellar Lab, a Paris based company claims to build the first space-inspired village in California’s Mojave Desert.
It is a radical innovation, as a space-inspired hotel has not existed up to now. The company plans to start building the village in 2021.
What type of innovation?
It is a product innovation, that will mostly change the destination management and surely the Mojave Desert as a single destination in California.
What can you find about the background of the innovation?
Their mission is to help build a future full of life on earth and beyond by collaborating with international universities and institutes. They combine environmental science, agriculture, biochemestry, geopyhsics, planetary sciences, anthropolog and psychology.
Who was the innovator? Story
of the invention?
Barbara B. is the founder and CEO. She is an entrepreneur and investor. She has always been fascinated by science and started to invest with just 23 years.
