Innovation - Project "Türe": Art in Nature


 What is new?

This innovation is about combining nature and art in the Alpine region in an inspiring way. It is an art installation, where 9 different doors were placed directly along the hiking route at an altitude of over 2000 meters above sea level at various locations. The doors were created by 9 artists from 5 different nations.

 For whom is it new?

Both, market and company.

 How new is it?

Incremental. This innovation is a new way of using doors. The door itself already exists for many years, but is now being used in a different context. 

 What type of innovation?

It is a product innovation.

What can you find about the background of the innovation?  

The artists wanted to create a better perception for tourists and locals entering and leaving specific places. Not only when it comes to being inside but also being in nature. By positioning the doors in the landscape, virtual boundaries should be visualized. People should start think more about leaving or entering premises as well as virtual borders and lines.

 Who was the innovator?

9 artists from 5 different nations.

 Story of the innovation?

The doors are intended to encourage the tourists/locals to think about the door or a specific topic. The artists were thinking about several existing quotes like for example "Be an opener of doors" or " There are so many doors to open. I am impatient to begin" As soon as people will discover the door, they will start to think about "why is it here?"- They will open and close it, going around and maybe being a little confused in the beginning. But this is exactly the aim of the innovators, as they want them to start think out of the box and try to get a different perception of "entering a new place", in this case the landscape. The door symbolizes "entering or leaving a room". With this innovation the artists try to keep the hiking trails alive. 

How has it been generated?

The doors were built up in the summer months in Lech Zürs am Arlberg. It is a new way to inspire hikers and make them think about new perspectives.

 Possible learning about the innovation process?

Doors are not just an entrance to a building, but can be an entrance to many new things in life. This innovation is a metaphor for leaving things behind and entering new parts of life. The innovators hope to inspire many people with their project.
