Feratel on the road to success with PIA product line
Feratel's Personal Interests' Assistant PIA is on course for success. After only 1 year already 20 tourist destinations in the D-A-CH area are using the digital holiday companion with added value.
PIA provides the guest with useful tips for planning the stay and the experience on site and makes the guest want more. Culinary delights, points of interest, tours, events, experiences, wellness offers, webcams, ski area information, weather and much more.
The digital holiday companion also serves as a fully-fledged guest card app with detailed display of inclusive/discount services and full integration of the digital guest card. The interaction with the electronic guest reporting system plays a major role here - naturally always in compliance with all DSGVO guidelines.
Technically PIA uses the future-oriented PWA technology (Progressive Web App). This means that no download from the App Store is necessary and that PIA works device independent (on the smartphone, on the tablet or even on the desktop at home before arrival, etc.). Shortly before arrival, the guest receives an automated welcome email with the link to his or her individual holiday companion. For mobile use, this is added quickly and easily to the home screen of the smartphone and the destination is also present there. Updates are also a thing of the past, the guest is always up to date.
PIA stands for an optimum of information services in the direction of the guest, places the offer of a destination in the display of the guests' digital devices and strengthens customer loyalty. Both destination managers and hosts can use PIA to actively promote upselling or to get in touch with guests on site and thus, for example, boost added value. And always with the target group in mind (APA-OTS Tourismuspresse, 2020).
Dimension of Innovation: What is new? For whom is it new? How new is it?
With PIA - an innovative concierge app from Feratel - destination management organisations have an excellent service, communication, information and sales tool at their disposal. Multilingual. Device independent. And, above all, individually tailored to the interests and length of stay of the guest. The sales-oriented communication tool including mobile guest card, experience shop and online ticketing has been convincing all along the line since its market launch in 2018. It is new for DMOs and guests.
What type of innovation?
Innovation in IT
What can you find about the background of the innovation? Who was the innovator? Story of the invention? Feratel is the inventor. PIA provides the guest with useful tips for planning his or her stay and for the experience on site, and makes the guest want more. Culinary delights, points of interest, tours, events, experiences, wellness offers, webcams, information on ski resorts, weather and much more. No information too much, no information too little. No time-consuming research or annoying "being played" with unwanted information.
How has it been generated? Possible learnings about the innovation process (what does it need to develop an innovation like this?
Technically, PIA uses the future oriented PWA technology (Progressive Web App). This means that no download from the App Store is necessary and PIA works device independent (on the smartphone, on the tablet or even on the desktop at home before the journey, etc.).
The innovation was created by the IT experts of Feratel. Such a programme requires know-how and a trained workforce.
