KEESY
Toscana, Italy
Keesy is the first automatic check-in and check-out service for apartments, B&Bs and guest houses. Keesy responds to the problems of home sharing, to ensure maximum flexibility to the host, the owner who rents, and to the guest who will go to stay. It's also includes other services like the "Box plus" and the "Smart access".
Hosts can register and choose whether they would like the Digital or Box Service. They can purchase a single ceck-in, a bundle, or choose a subscription.
CECK-IN/ CECK-OUT:
First of all, the owner downloads the app or registers on the www.keesy.com website and, choosing between Keesy Check Daily or a Subscription, books the date for guest’s check-in (or check-out).
At this point, the Guest receives via sms/e-mail the unique and secret code to access the Keesy Point, where he will find the key to his accommodation, along with the link from which to download the app to manage the service in complete autonomy. All bureaucracy is automated: the guest can send before check-in his identity document or scan it directly at the Keesy Point, so the Keesy service will automatically send it to the police station. Payments are also made as simple as possible, as the local tax and other extra services are collected digitally via POS.
BOX PLUS AND KEESY POINTS:
To have the keys of the apartment there is another system: it's called Box plus in which keys are kept in a reserved box and the guest can collect them in a Keesy point.
Within the 24-hour validity period for your booking, hosts can head to one of Keesy points and deposit the keys in the box, using the personal code. Using the code sent by Keesy, the guest can access the point and collect the keys.
There are also "Keesy Street" that are smaller and more compact solution compared to the Keesy points. They are designed to offer the same advantages in terms of convenience and security. On the Street, each box is fitted with reinforced doors and encrypted access to give you and your guests complete peace of mind.
SMART ACCESS:
Keesy offers also another service: the smart access! Thanks to this innovation the guests can open the door of the apartment with the smartphone. The system only takes a few minutes to install and allows the hosts to manage access to their properties more securely and affordably. Plus, hosts can still use the previous access system (physical keys, badges, remote controls, keypad, etc.) because it is installed alongside it.
ANALYSIS OF THE INNOVATION
Speaking of the automatic ceck-in and ceck-out online the innovation is incremental because this platform is increasing and facilitating the system. One of the most principle problems of the hosts is the time. Thanks to Keesy, they can simplify the hospitality service. Unforeseen events or delays are no longer a problem. The Keesy Points, located in strategic arrival points such as stations and airports, are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to ensure the maximum freedom of hosts and guests.
About the Box plus and the Smart access, I think the innovation is radical because services like these have never existed before. And again, it's a way to save time and to make more free hosts and guests.
According to a recent market research carried out by GFK Eurisko in March, 38% of Italians think that having fixed hours to check-in is an objective difficulty.
The data collected show that the existence of a service such as that offered by Keesy would have a significant impact on the market of home sharing and that about half of Italians (45%) would increase the use of extra-hotel formulas.
The innovation is new for both guests and owners of extra-hotel facilities.
Finally, I think is a process innovation because it's a new service process.
BACKGROUND OF THE INNOVATION
The innovator was Patrizio Donnini, the entrepreneur of this start-up, born in 2017. The first Keesy point opened in Florence and today we can find a lot of them in the most touristic places in Italy.
In a interview, he explained the need he has had to realize this service: "Keesy was created to simplify the life of those who make hospitality a service, giving them the freedom to enjoy their free time."
