KISHARE
Venice, Italy
Kishare is a free app available on iOS and Android stores that allows you to create groups of people who want to share a ride in a gondola or a taxi, whether on wheel or on water. Thanks to geolocation, the app is able to connect people and allows you to have the clear route to share with other users.
Kishare is based on the strengths of the sharing economy and will allow residents and tourists to save on transport (gondolas, taxis and water taxis) without losing quality.
The app is very easy to use:
Furthermore, thanks to the existence of the chat people can also stay in contact with the other users in order to create good relationships.
These are the fares of the transports that people can use:
Analysis of the innovation
In my opinion this is an incremental innovation because it's improving the public transportation service of Venice.
The innovation is new in market: both for tourists and locals.
Finally, I think it's a process innovation because it's a new service process.
Background of the innovation
The application, designed by two gondoliers Danilo Costantini and Igor Silvestri was published in August 2017 and already counts more than 5,000 registered users.
The founders explained that the idea «was born from the high demand of tourists to be able to share a gondola ride, with the aim of being able to save by dividing the price of the fare».
Tourists will be able to enrich their cultural experience, taking advantage of services of a higher level, with a huge saving of time and money.
Also the benefits for the locals are obvious: on the one hand it will be possible to pay lower costs of a taxi ride, and on the other hand the app has the ambitious goal of helping the management of tourist flows breaking down the queues in the "hottest" points of the city.
So, it's not only a service for tourists, but also for residents who in some periods of the year are besieged by the queues that form in the boat points of public transport.
