SHAREWOOD
Italy

Sharewood is an online platform that allows people to rent sports equipment like canoes, surfboards, skis, bikes, etc. The platform works as follows: people can share their equipment at a price they choose and, on the other hand, other people can rent it.

The platform is like an intermediary, taking 15% commission on each transaction. So, you can say that through this activity all three parties gain. It’s clear that the person who rents the equipment earns on the fact that they will spend very little. Furthermore, he will take what he rents without having to wait for someone to bring it to him.

ANALYSIS OF THE INNOVATION
In my opinion this is an incremental innovation because it's improving a service that already exists.
It's new for all kind of customers interested to rent a sport equipment.
Finally, it's a process innovation because it's a new service process.

BACKGROUND OF THE INNOVATION
The innovator was Piercarlo mansueto. He's 24 and he studied Economics and Business Management in Rome. He won a scholarship to fly to San Francisco, but gave up: he was admitted to Milan innovaction lab, an intensive training program for startupper, aimed at university students.
The idea for his startup comes from a passion for surfing. These are their words: "I couldn’t rent a table during a holiday in Fuerteventura. After days of trying I begged a local boy to give me his. Why not organize a service that puts in contact those looking for sports equipment and those who want to rent his things earning on?"

I think this innovation is a great idea! Sharewood is the first web site in Europe that allows sports equipment owners to share it with other enthusiasts who want to live an outdoor experience.
It's a sharing economy in sport!
